Tory’s story as a female entrepreneur and her voice for women leaders really inspired us. At Sounding Board our mission is to help companies develop their next generation of leaders in a more personalized way. We truly believe that when companies invest in growing their leaders, they are investing in growing their business. And as a sole female-founded team, we have been inspired to #EmbraceAmbition along with Tory and millions of women entrepreneurs. We love that Tory Burch, a woman who has built one of the most iconic fashion brands, created this foundation and programs to support women entrepreneurs. At Sounding Board we support women’s leadership and often coach women leaders to rise up and pursue their highest career ambitions.

Did you know that in 2017, only 17% of startups had a female founder? And although there’s has been a lot of buzz and a push to try and close the gender gap in recent years, the stark reality is that number percentage has pretty much stayed the same for the past five years. If you start to look at the statistics for VC-backed female teams the numbers get even smaller. Only 4% of VC-backed companies are comprised of female founding teams.

At Sounding Board, we’ve always believed that anyone can be a leader. Being a leader isn’t just about a title or role – we all have the opportunity to lead in our own right, in a way that plays to our strengths. But leading and managing is challenging – and there’s no one right way to do it. With the rate of change in today’s businesses, companies and their people are finding it harder and harder to keep up with the pace of growth and change. Ultimately it’s becoming more important to arm people with the right mindset, tools and behaviors to allow them to be successful in any role, at any stage. That’s what Sounding Board is uniquely positioned to do: Provide leadership coaching that scales.

Building a company is a hard challenge. But we’re all here because we believe in our mission. When asked about why she joined Christine and Sounding Board, Lori (our co-founder and Chief Coaching Officer) said “Christine is tenacious, conscientious and smart. She has both bulldog persistence and a tender heart. This combination of strength and sensitivity is unusual and a great foundation for a winning business.” Christine is an inspiration to all of us here at Sounding Board and it’s exciting to see the Tory Burch Foundation recognizing her for all the hard work she has done to get here. We’re especially excited because at Sounding Board we are huge supporter of women’s leadership and are committed to helping women develop in their careers.

Please don’t forget to vote for Christine to recognize her and give her an incredible opportunity to share the mission of bringing a Sounding Board to leaders at all levels. We’d also appreciate it if you can share this with your network – every vote counts until April 3rd!
